Industry Institute Interaction Program on Global Opportunities in Product Lifecycle Management

SIEMENS organized one day Industry Institute Interaction Program on Global Opportunities on Product Lifecycle Management on 19th October, 2016 at SIEMENS Corporate Office Gurgaon. Mr. Vineet Kumar Mishra, Assistant Professor, Department of Mechanical Engineering, from Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaon attended the Program.

 

Siemens India is a technology powerhouse that has stood for engineering excellence, innovation, quality and reliability. The company focuses on the areas of electrification, automation and digitalization. Siemens is also designing a digital learning platform for students to prepare themselves to bridge the gap between industry and academia, said Dora Smith, Global Director, Academic Partner Program of PLM, speaking at the SIEMENS Corporate Office Gurgaon. There is some way to go until Industry 4.0 becomes reality, according to Smith. A decisive role is played in the company by innovative industrial software which allows the integration of product development and production, and consequently paves the way for the holistic optimization of product development and production processes. "The increasing penetration of IT and the growing integration of all industrial technologies are taking place in evolutionary steps from today's perspective. However, looking back, the completely IT-based interaction between human being, product and machine could prove to be a real industrial revolution", Smith said.

 

The next session was conducted by Mr. Abhishek, Education Channel Manager, Siemens Industry Software (India) Co, Ltd. He said that holistic development of students and teachers are only possible by bridging the gap between Industry & Institute.

 

Mr. Raghu from Siemens Gurgaon demonstrated that how virtual production planning using PLM software can reduce the energy consumption of robot lines in car production by up to 50 percent.

 

The program was very beneficial for all participants as all the information relevant to deal with current the industry demand was given. The program also provided information that to use Siemens’s digital learning platform for students to prepare the way for Industry 4.0. Key points of the talk was as follows-

1. To bridge the gap between Industry and Institute.

2. To Share The Experience And Expertise Between Institutions And Industry For Mutual Benefit.

3. To Develop Good Work Culture In Students. To foster Research Work and develop Laboratories, Discussions and Delivering Lectures on Industrial Practices, Trends and Experiences.
